Dimitri Scarlato, Italy
Dimitri Scarlato was born and grew up in Rome where he studied composition, piano and conducting at the Conservatorio di Musica S. Cecilia. He also attended composition and conducting master classes of Pascal Dusapin, Azio Corghi, Ada Gentile and Bruno Aprea.
In 2004 he moved to London to receive a Master of Music degree in composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and he is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in composition at the Royal College of Music.
His music has been performed in several venues across Europe including the Cadogan Hall in London and Accademia Filarmonica Romana in Rome.
As a conductor, after having deepened his knowledge of opera and late 18th century music, he focused his activity in conducting contemporary classic music. He often premieres new compositions with the chamber ensemble «Tiresias Collective», which regularly performs in London.
Dimitri has also an intense activity in films and pop-crossover music that lead him to collaborate with the crossover vocal trio «Appassionante», for whom he produces orchestral arrangements.
In 2007 he has worked in the music pre-production of Sweeney Todd, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, and in 2009 he composed and supervised the music for the film The City in the Sky, which has been selected at the 66th Venice Film Festival.
